The legislation that went into effect following the Surfside collapse in June 2021 is leading aging condominiums across the state to go through extensive renovations or replacement.
Palm Beach has about 90 multi-family buildings that are more than three stories and 30 years old, with the majority being concentrated south of Sloan’s Curve. While we’ve seen many construction building repairs taking place in this area in recent years, it is very likely that we’ll start to see complete redevelopment projects. A good example of this is the proposal for the Ambassador Hotel and Edgewater property .
Fortunately, this ultra-luxury project has a top-notch team and is proposing a beautiful design that will complement the surrounding area. I’m also glad that there will be less units, which will help with traffic, and there will be upgrades that will help with stormwater management and potential flooding.
