Palm Tran supervisor caught with $2,500 after trip to company vault

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A Palm Tran employee was arrested on Thursday for grand theft after police said he stole from the company vault.

The Delray Beach Police Department (DBPD) said the investigation began when Palm Tran received a tip from an employee about Revenue Supervisor Dario Zurita’s involvement in theft from the company vault. Surveillance footage showed Zurita’s unauthorized presence in the vault during money counts, which typically do not involve supervisors.

A higher-up observed surveillance video and saw Zurita alone in the vault with the door closed, violating company protocol. Police said Zurita was then seen with a Palm Tran bag, which appeared full and heavy when he exited the vault and headed toward the employee-only parking lot, where Zurita got into a Palm Tran van…
