PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — Detour routes have now been unveiled for what officials warn could become one of the worst traffic disruptions in recent memory.
While the exact dates have yet to be disclosed, it’s expected to take place sometime in July, CSX will shut down the rail crossing at Northlake Boulevard and Beeline Highway for eight days of nonstop repair work — forcing thousands of drivers onto detour paths as long as 34 miles.
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and CSX say the round-the-clock closure is needed to replace dangerously aging track infrastructure and install new signals supporting the widening of Beeline Highway. But the ripple effect will be felt across the region…
