Palm Beach man credits bystander with rescue after boat capsizes in Intracoastal

Should he decide to update his 2023 memoir “Outdoor Adventures and Misadventures,” longtime Palm Beach resident Chris Kellogg has an ideal story to include.

The 81-year-old charter boat captain and author had planned to spend May 8 piloting his 26-foot racing boat along the Intracoastal Waterway. But on his way to the boat, the skiff he was driving got caught in another boat’s mooring lines and overturned near the Palm Beach Sailing Club in West Palm Beach.

“I have a racing sailboat, a 26-foot Soling which was used in the Olympics,” Kellogg told the Daily News. “And it’s a fixed keel, a very fast little boat. I was going out to try and sail it when all these things happened.”…
