Night of fireworks ends in SWAT response after man points rifle-style BB gun at neighbors

JUPITER, Fla. (CBS12) — His wife said he had a “short fuse” after a neighborhood firework show ended with more bang than anyone bargained for.

What started as neighborhood fireworks ended with a SWAT response when an angry neighbor reportedly confronted a family with a BB rifle in Jupiter. The Jupiter Police Department (JPD) said on July 5, at around midnight, officers responded to a report of aggravated assault at 705 N. Loxahatchee Drive. The caller stated that while setting off fireworks with his young son, a man approached holding what appeared to be a rifle and pointed it at them while yelling about the noise.

The suspect was later identified as David Joseph Norco — an 87-year-old man who lived nearby. Surveillance footage from a Ring camera reportedly showed Norco approaching a group — the victims included a 5-year-old child, a 22-year-old man, a 41-year-old man, a 24-year-old man, and a 37-year-old man — with what appeared to be a long gun, yelling, and then retreating to a neighboring residence, according to the probable cause affidavit…
