More than 14 years after a 10-year-old girl was killed and her twin brother was found badly abused and doused with toxic chemicals in South Florida, their adoptive father, accused in the shocking crime, will be back in a courtroom on Wednesday, where a judge will soon determine again if he is ready to stand trial.

Jorge Barahona, 58, was in court on Tuesday for the first day of his competency hearing wearing a red jumpsuit worn by high-profile defendants. It’s been more than a year since he was found incompetent by a judge.
