More courts or more green space? New pickleball war divides upscale West Palm community

WEST PALM BEACH — Another pickleball war has developed at an upscale HOA — this one at RiverWalk of the Palm Beaches, a community that bills itself as having “luxury, resort-style living without extravagant country club fees.”

But a group of residents are concerned about the expense the community will incur to build six new pickleball courts on what is called its hub, a open area of greenspace that anchors the community. The Palm Beach Post has made repeated efforts to obtain comments from the HOA but has been unsuccessful.

The pickleball committee, though, issued a report in February 2024 that cited two Realtors’ claims that new pickleball courts will increase property values, citing it as an amenity that new buyers demand…
