Wellington Teen Charged After Allegedly Brandishing Gun, Threatening Women at Local Mall

A 17-year-old boy is now facing charges after he brandished a gun and threatened two women at the Mall at Wellington Green. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office reported that the altercation began when the two women refused to give him a phone number. He is accused of then pulling a gun from a truck, pointing it at them, and threatening violence, as per a WPBF report.

The incident escalated quickly, with the teen, identified as Johnathan Mazzeo, allegedly proceeding to chase the women into the mall. Officers responded to the scene to find that the weapons had already been stashed away. According to CBS12, Mazzeo told the driver of the truck he wanted to “put holes in them.” The firearms, including one stolen from Boca Raton, were later recovered wrapped in a towel next to trash cans, near an Office Depot.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the other individual involved in the incident was also detained for his role. The truck and driver returned to the scene approximately ten minutes later, and both were apprehended. The authorities have charged Mazzeo with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon by a delinquent, and unlawfully possessing a firearm under the age of 18, according to a statement obtained by CBS12.
