A controversial feature of ongoing Florida Department of Transportation projects in Palm Beach will change after pushback from town officials.
Instead of using pavement markings called “sharrows” along some stretches of State Road A1A that are now being repaved, FDOT will let cyclists and motorists know to share the road with signs, department officials told the Town Council on Aug. 12.
After an outcry from town officials and residents that the plan would create unsafe conditions along parts of A1A, FDOT representatives sought another alternative to replace the sharrows, Town Engineer Patricia Strayer said.
