Transportation survey: County residents weigh in on ideas to address traffic issues

With Palm Beach County’s sales tax for road and building upgrades ending this year and county officials wondering how to tackle traffic in the coming decades, two suggestions stand out from government-sponsored surveys of more than 100 residents — more trains and roads.

A majority of 163 survey responses from in-person meetings held across Palm Beach County want or expect more public transportation, more roads and wider roads. Bicycle lanes and sidewalks rank near the bottom of the list of transportation advancements they anticipate or want to see.

The survey is part of the yearlong forming of a county transportation master plan, led by consultancy firm WSP, to determine how to improve transportation within Palm Beach County as its population grows.
