Wrong-way driver arrested nearly a year after deadly DUI I-95 crash in West Palm Beach

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A deadly wrong-way collision on I-95 led to the arrest of a driver nearly a year later, after authorities say he was under the influence of alcohol and drugs at the time of the crash.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), Lucas Morena was driving a white 2019 Volkswagen Jetta southbound in the northbound lanes of I-95 near Southern Boulevard in West Palm Beach on November 28, 2024, when he collided head-on with another vehicle, driven by Linton Kelly.

The impact was deadly. According to the arrest report, Kelly’s vehicle overturned and landed on its passenger side, and he was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders at approximately 3:53 a.m…
