Thousands of drivers in Wellington have received fines for speeding in local school zones as the village began full enforcement of a new safety program.
The Wellington Village Council on Tuesday, Oct. 14 reviewed a report on the recently launched School Zone Safety Program, which showed large numbers of speeding violations during school hours.
The council officially launched the program in August, which fines drivers $100 if they exceeded the speed limit by 11 miles per hour in these areas.
