Palm Beach philanthropists give $7.5 million to Cox Science Center and Aquarium expansion

A $7.5 million naming gift from Palm Beach residents Alina de Almeida and John Paulson will fund the Cox Science Center and Aquarium’s new 5,000-square-foot STEAM Studio.

A longtime supporter of education, Paulson has directed nearly half of his charitable giving toward K–12 and higher education programs in New York, Boston, and Palm Beach County, the center said in a release.

His latest donation will fund the STEAM Studio, one of four main features of the Cox Science Center and Aquarium’s Hall of Science, which is set to open in 2027. The other three are the Aquarium, Digital Exhibit Gallery, and Traveling Exhibit Gallery…
