WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A West Palm Beach man accused of stealing a woman’s mobility scooter and oxygen tanks was busted after a pawn shop showdown where he allegedly threatened to shoot the owner.
The investigation began on October 6 when deputies with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) first responded to a reported burglary in the 1000 block of 13th Street. A follow-up investigation on October 13 led deputies to speak with a man who was house-sitting for the homeowner while she was hospitalized. The house-sitter noticed and reported that the victim’s $3,000 red electric scooter and $6,000 worth of oxygen tanks were missing.
Detectives later met with the victim in the hospital, who informed them she heard that an individual named “Carl” had attempted to sell the stolen equipment. The victim said Carl reportedly went to a pawn shop on 45th Street, where he demanded $2,000 for the items but was unsuccessful…
