Golly G’s cream of the crop at national competition

Golly’s G’s Ice Cream founder and owner Joey Boykin began his venture as a frozen confection entrepreneur with a simple philosophy to do what makes him happy and brings happiness to others. In the nine years since opening his first location in Pleasant View, Boykin has not only achieved his goal, but now he’s getting national recognition for the excellence he brings to his product and business.

Golly G’s, which has a second location in the Sango community of Clarksville, took home two red ribbon awards at the North American Ice Cream Association ConeCon25, held at the Palm Beach Convention Center in West Palm Beach, Florida from Nov. 9 – 11. The convention, which was founded over 50 years ago, offers clinics and educational opportunities for those in the ice cream industry as well as a strict competition which looks for the best in traditional ice cream flavors like chocolate, strawberry and vanilla, as well as new flavors with its flavor of the year award.

This year, Golly G’s won for its Fresh Strawberry and Salty Dark Chocolate ice cream. Boykin said his ice creamery to date has won two blue ribbons, five red and one white…
