Flagler Museum teams up with Simon Doonan on department-store exhibit

With jazz music, vintage items pulled from its historic collection and a window display created by seasonal Palm Beach resident and bon vivant Simon Doonan, the Flagler Museum’s latest exhibit explores one of the modern era’s greatest but often overlooked inventions — the department store.

Running through May 24, the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum’s “May I Help You, Madame? The Making of the Modern Department Store,” traces the history of department stores, from their beginnings in the mid-19th century to their transition into lynchpins of 20th-century culture.
