WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Imagine having your birthday overshadowed by Christmas.
For thousands of people born in December, that’s reality — and Publix wants to change it. The grocery chain has launched its “Merry Birthday” campaign, complete with festive additions and custom cakes, to ensure these birthdays don’t get lost in the holiday shuffle.
“We know many people born on Christmas have faced years of shared celebrations and combined gifts,” said Publix Director of Creative Services Mark Nielsen, “We wanted to change that by giving them a moment of recognition and joy. In a season overflowing with cookies, they deserve cake — and our bakeries have just what they need.”
The campaign debuted during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and features a touching story about Izzy, a young girl whose Christmas birthday finally gets the celebration she deserves, according to the news release. Publix bakeries are now offering Merry Birthday cakes in two sizes, and the company will even deliver cakes to families welcoming babies on Christmas Day at select hospitals…
