WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Designs and patterns found in nature have myriad effects on the human psyche. Understanding those cues and how they work can help retailers create stores that will keep customers coming back.
Bill Browning, a partner with Terrapin Bright Green, a sustainability consulting firm, spoke on biophilia and its effects during Furniture Today’s Leadership Conference here.
In all, he said there are 15 different patterns of biophilic design. Seven of those deal with nature in the space, three are natural analogs, and the remaining five are about the nature of the space.
