Billionaire investor and philanthropist Dr. Herbert “Herbie” Wertheim, who owns two residences in Palm Beach, has used a trust to pay a recorded $61.75 million for a completely rebuilt estate in nearby Manalapan.
Wertheim bought the ocean-to-lake estate at 1160 S. Ocean Blvd., which comprises 1.75 acres at 1160 S. Ocean Blvd., about a mile south of the Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa. The property has about 160 feet of frontage on the Atlantic and the same amount on the Intracoastal Waterway.
The estate includes a contemporary-style two-story mansion with four principal bedrooms and two others to accommodate household staff, according to its sales listing and previous reporting by the Palm Beach Daily News.
