Moms find community and support through ‘Mom Dates and Playdates’ group

Nicole Kaplan, CEO and founder of “Mom Dates and Playdates,” created the group to connect mothers and combat the isolation often felt in motherhood. “Mom dates and playdates is really a group to bring moms together through community,” Kaplan said. Having experienced postpartum depression and anxiety herself, Kaplan understands the importance of connection. “Many of the moms have come to me personally to tell me how much this group has got them out of the house and how it got them out of postpartum depression and anxiety,” she said.

Farrah Hafeez, a mother who moved to south Florida from New Jersey, shared her experience: “It can be so isolating to be a mother, but just to be a part of community.” She added that the group provides constant activities, saying, “Always having something to do, vs. looking for things to do.” The group organizes various events, from moms’ nights out to family activities and playdates for children. Hafeez noted the benefits for her child, saying, “And it’s really good for her too to meet new friends and socialize and be out there.”…
