Riviera Beach police take aggressive approach to New Year’s Eve safety

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. (CBS212) — The Riviera Beach police department is taking an aggressive stance on New Year’s Eve gunshots.

The police department will be going door to door New Year’s Eve in two neighborhoods, Monroe Heights and Federal Gardens. Authorities identified these areas as higher risk areas for gun violence. Chief Michael Coleman says the aggressive approach is meant to keep residents safe.

“We identified areas within our city that have a high volume of gunfire and we’re going to go out to those particular areas, and we’re going to knock on doors and educate the families and the citizens on why they should not fire and use, guns to celebrate,” says Chief Coleman…
