Early Wednesday morning, a pedestrian was struck and fatally injured by a train in West Palm Beach, triggering an investigation by local authorities. According to CBS12, the West Palm Beach Police Department responded to the fatal collision around 5:10 a.m. The accident occurred near Parker Avenue and Caroline Street where the victim was discovered close to the train tracks and pronounced dead at the scene.
While the victim’s identity has yet to be disclosed by police, WPBF reports that the train involved was southbound Tri-Rail Train 5693 originating from Mangonia Park. Having been on board are 19 passengers during the collision, they were safely evacuated from the train, which service was subsequently canceled following the incident.
Authorities at the scene cleared Track One where the collision took place, enabling some train services to continue with delays as crews waited for further approval. Despite the reopening of the track, normal operations were hampered, with several trains experiencing delays in the area.
