Officials prepare for controlled wildfire in Boynton Beach

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Over 900 acress land is going to burn this coming Saturday.

Boynton Beach, Florida, Fire Management officials at the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge are planning to conduct a prescribed burn of 987 acres on the west-central area of the Refuge interior, according to the wildlife refuge.

Officials say the purpose is to reduce hazardous fuels which will also improve habitat and aid in the management of invasive species. Officials say the weather conditions look favorable to complete the burn on Saturday, January 17, through Sunday, January 18…
