PBSO halts services in Loxahatchee Groves amid $113K payment dispute

LOXAHATCHEE GROVES, Fla. (CBS12) — The Town of Loxahatchee Groves and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office are clashing over a contract dispute, with the sheriff’s office seeking payment it says it is owed.

According to a December 30 letter, The Town of Loxahatchee Groves stated it could not continue to pay for PBSO services under the existing law enforcement agreement. The Town of Loxahatchee Groves acknowledged that PBSO discontinued services on December 1, which all included:

  • Patrol and enforcement services.
  • Traffic infraction officer support.
  • School speed zone camera enforcement.

The Town of Loxahatchee Groves as for the sheriff’s office to clarify whether school guard crossing guards would still be paid and whether the sheriff’s office would provide basic “zone level” enforcement similar to other unincorporated areas in Palm Beach County.
