Palm Beach County Opens Warming Centers for Homeless Ahead of Cold Snap

As Palm Beach County experienced colder-than-usual temperatures, warming centers opened to assist individuals experiencing homelessness. The Salvation Army Center of Hope at 1577 N. Military Trail in West Palm Beach operated from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday, while The Lord’s Place at 2808 N. Australian Avenue was open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m, according to the county’s release.

The county is working with community organizations to address the risks associated with the colder weather. Individuals who need transportation to warming centers can call 211 to arrange assistance. Communities are responding to National Weather Service alerts indicating that the cold conditions are unusual for South Florida.
