I feel for you, Ocala. We also have unwanted development in West Palm Beach.

How I feel for you all. I was born in West Palm 70 years ago. I’ve seen our forest – many of them virgin – our farms and pastures converted to strip malls and housing, our roads widened and all that you describe.

Our public dock where once a Seminole woman sat in a little palm-thatched hut making dolls now is rented for use by massive yachts which loom a the end of the downtown’s main street.

I think one of the most common experiences in American life is to return to the place you were a child and say “This used to be all trees.”…
