800-Unit Development Could Replace Golf Course at 6455 Jog Rd, Greenacres, FL

On February 26th, the Palm Beach County Commission considered plans that would involve redeveloping a shuttered golf course into an 800-unit housing development.

GL Homes wants to proceed with a now-unnamed community that would feature 500 single-family homes, measuring 1,800 to 4,800 square feet, and 300 apartments spread across multiple four-story buildings. Homes would be for-sale and rental units; the single-family homes and apartment complex would feature separate entrances and amenities.

Of the 300 apartments, 27 would be classified as workforce housing, which would extend accessible housing to tenants earning up to 140 percent of the area median income (AMI). As of 2025, Palm Beach County’s AMI was $111,800. GL Homes purchased the 167.8-acre property for $4.56 million in 2014.

The Falls Country Club golf course on the site closed in 2025. For the project to proceed, GL Homes must secure a rezoning approval that would change the property’s designation from commercial recreation to planned unit development.
