95-year-old Lake Worth woman honored with Girl Scouts Lifetime Service Award

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A Lake Worth woman who spent decades helping young girls build confidence and leadership skills through Girl Scouts is being recognized for a lifetime of service.

Ninety-five-year-old Marilyn VanVleet received the Lifetime Service Award from the Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida, an honor recognizing volunteers who have made extraordinary contributions to the organization and its mission.

VanVleet said being involved in Girl Scouts has been one of the most meaningful parts of her life.

“Girl Scouts has meant a lot to me, and I’m so glad that I got involved,” VanVleet said.
