WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A woman was shocked to wake up in the middle of the night after discovering a stranger standing inside her apartment, according to the West Palm Beach Police Department on Friday.
Police say the startling incident happened on March 9, the victim confronted the man, who had entered her apartment without permission. The intruder immediately ran from the apartment. Moments later, the same man was reportedly spotted attempting to open the door of another locked unit in the same complex.
Patrol officers quickly flooded the area and found the suspect nearby. Police say its officers arrested 61-year-old Jackie Williams, who is now facing several charges, including:
- burglary of an occupied dwelling
- possession of drug paraphernalia
- loitering or prowling in an unusual place or manner
Detectives say the incident highlights the importance of residents being alert and contacting authorities quickly. Police credited the victim’s prompt call and the rapid response of patrol officers for helping take the suspect into custody before anyone was harmed…
