FBI: ‘America’s Most Wanted’ fugitive from notorious 1988 heist dies using alias in hospital

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WHNS/Gray News) – A federal fugitive wanted in connection with a notorious 1988 Florida heist died while hiding in North Carolina.

According to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the FBI, John Anthony Quinn died of natural causes last December at a hospital in Asheville under the alias of Jim Klein.

Authorities said Quinn, who used numerous aliases, was wanted for his alleged role in the April 1988 theft of $1.3 million from an armored car company in Riviera Beach, Florida.

The then 48-year-old worked as a manager and is said to have stolen the money from the company’s vault…
