I-95 projects lead list of traffic impacts across Palm Beach County this week

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — Drivers in Palm Beach County can expect overnight slowdowns and ramp closures on I-95 this week and next as the Florida Department of Transportation rolls out a series of construction and maintenance projects across the county. FDOT’s latest traffic report says the biggest impacts will be along I-95 in Boynton Beach and Palm Beach Gardens, where lane closures and ramp work are expected overnight.

At the Boynton Beach Boulevard interchange, FDOT says one lane on I-95 may close in each direction beginning at 8 p.m., with as many as three lanes closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights. A fourth lane also may close overnight if needed. The project also could trigger overnight closures of the northbound and southbound exit ramps to Boynton Beach Boulevard, along with the northbound and southbound entrance ramps from Boynton Beach Boulevard, all between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. Detours are posted through Woolbright Road, Gateway Boulevard, U.S. 1 and Congress Avenue depending on the ramp affected.

FDOT also says drivers using the I-95 southbound exit ramp to Boynton Beach Boulevard should expect a temporary traffic pattern while bridge repairs continue. The free-flow right turn onto westbound Boynton Beach Boulevard is not available, and all traffic exiting southbound I-95 must stop at the signal. Two westbound lanes remain open on Boynton Beach Boulevard, but traffic has been shifted to the outside shoulder over the SFRTA railroad bridge…
