Trafficker controlled victim’s papers, work and movements for profit, prosecutors say

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A Palm Beach County jury convicted a woman on Wednesday of human trafficking after prosecutors detailed a scheme that exploited and controlled a victim for profit.

Geisy Rodriguez Brito was found guilty following a trial that laid out how she manipulated, intimidated and restricted the freedom of a 27-year-old victim for her own financial benefit, according to the State Attorney’s Office.

“This verdict sends a clear message that human trafficking will not be tolerated in our community,” State Attorney Alexcia Cox said in a statement. “Our office will continue to stand with survivors and seek to hold offenders fully accountable.”…
