WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — June brings a new Community Champion: the Ronald McDonald House.
It has spent more than 40 years giving families outside the Wichita area a place to stay while their child battles an illness at local hospitals. These families can rack up quite the bill by staying in hotels while their child receives treatment, but the Wichita branch of the nonprofit said it was able to help hundreds of families last year without costing them a dime.
Officials with the Ronald McDonald House said they saved families more than $1.5 million last year by providing housing and several other services, like meals.
