Wichita firefighters union raises concerns about reserve fire engine shortage

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The Wichita firefighters union says the area around Wesley Hospital and College Hill went without an operational fire engine for nearly five hours on May 28, though the city disputes that timeline, saying it was only two hours.

The incident occurred at Fire Station Five. The city says the outage only happened because protocol was not followed, but the union says this is a problem that has happened multiple times.
