WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Concordia native Penny Larsen spent nearly four decades serving her country and caring for fellow service members as a nurse in the Air Force and Air Force Reserve.
Larsen joined the Air Force in 1970 after completing nursing school.
“I had just always been interested, and they had recruiters in the Wichita area. They needed nurses,” she said.
Larsen spent two years working in pediatrics at Carswell Air Force Base in Texas, but says her military nursing career truly took off when she was sent to the Philippines to care for POWs returning from Vietnam…
