WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – It is a warm and muggy morning, and the day ahead will be hot and humid. However, like Monday we will quickly turn our attention to strong/severe storms this evening. Expect the activity to develop across southwest Kansas after 3 p.m. and fade away over north central Kansas by 10 p.m. Some storms will produce large hail and intense wind gusts up 75 mph.
Highs today and Wednesday in the middle 90s will feel like 100 to 105 degrees when you factor in the humidity. Strenuous outdoor activities should be avoided during the afternoon, and if you must be outside, stay hydrated and take frequent breaks in the shade.
Additional storms are possible, if not likely on Wednesday afternoon across central and eastern Kansas as a (weak) cold front moves through the state. While a few storms may be strong, widespread severe weather is unlikely. Expect dry weather with a small cool down and less humidity on Thursday and Friday…
