Haysville school district making changes to cell phone policy as “bell to bell” law takes effect

HAYSVILLE, Kan. (KWCH) – Earlier this year, a law passed to ban cell phones from “bell to bell” in schools across Kansas. The law mandates that all students securely store their personal electronic devices for every class period.

With that law about to go into effect, some school districts are having to make significant changes to their cell phone policy. Haysville is one of those districts.

“We intend to communicate this with families as soon as possible, so that they can be prepared when school starts in August. This will be a second order change for a lot of our families,” said Jeff Hersh, who serves on the USD 261 Board of Education…
