Tuesday will be a weather aware day. Strong to severe storms will be possible later today. Damaging winds and large hail are the main threats. Before storms ramp up, a few showers will attempt to move into the area from the south after mid-morning. However, not much rain is expected through the first half of the day. Western Kansas storms will really start to get going after 4pm.
Storms will need to be monitored through the evening. While the greatest risk of severe weather includes much of Western Kansas, North Central Kansas could get skimmed by a few too. Storms could remain strong into the overnight but will weaken and fizzle out from there. In addition to storms today, hot and windy conditions persist.
As expected, highs to start the new week yesterday reached the 90s and 100s. We survived Monday and we will make it through the rest of this hot stretch as long as we are doing everything to take care of ourselves by staying hydrated, taking frequent breaks if working outdoors, and dressing accordingly. There will continue to be some evening storms that will mainly stay to the west and north.
