Driver in deadly 2025 hit-and-run crash sentenced to probation

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) — A driver convicted in a 2025 hit-and-run crash that killed a bicyclist was sentenced to 36 months probation Thursday in Sedgwick County District Court.

Blaine Hughes pleaded guilty in May to the crash that killed 57-year-old Daniel Forshey. Last September, police said Hughes struck Forshey with his pickup while Forshey was riding his bicycle near Broadway and Murdock. Hughes left the scene of the deadly crash but was arrested a day later without incident…
