WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Sedgwick County Zoo has welcomed a new arrival!
The zoo introduced a tawny frogmouth chick on Thursday after it fledged from the nest.
The hatch is especially exciting, the zoo said, because it marks the first time the chick’s parents have successfully raised their own young.
Since they are first‑time parents, keepers are providing extra support, including supplemental feedings and daily weight checks to ensure the chick stays on track.
“Overall, the parents have done a good job and remain attentive and watchful as their chick gains more independence and starts navigating the world on its own,” the zoo said on Facebook.
