I’ve been writing about restaurants in Wichita since October 2000. That’s 26 years ago, which is hard for me to believe.
In the early days, before menus were easy to find online, I used to pick them up wherever I went to help me with my reporting. I’ve had a big stack of them sitting in a folder (paper, not digital) for years and have been thinking about what I could do with them.
I’ve come up with this: I want to see if longtime foodies in Wichita can guess where the menus came from by just looking at some of the dishes. Occasionally, I’ll post snippets of a menu and ask readers to take their best guesses. After a few days, I’ll share the answer, the full menu and a little bit of history about the restaurant it came from…
