License plate reader cameras are being installed in Newton

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Eleven license plate reader cameras are being installed to capture images of vehicles entering Newton.

The city said on Monday that the Flock cameras will automatically capture license plates and identifying characteristics of every vehicle.

Information from the photos will go into a Flock database that law enforcement can search through to find stolen vehicles, locate missing persons and solve other crimes. If a vehicle is already in the system, law enforcement will be alerted…
