WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Tanganyika Wildlife Park announced on Tuesday that it’s working to save a premature giraffe following a rare cesarean section and emergency treatment.
According to the park, Virtue, its pregnant adult female reticulated giraffe, had started to lose her appetite, and her condition began to slowly decline.
The park’s veterinary team drew Virtue’s blood and found out that her lactate levels were elevated, signaling that the body was “failing at the cellular level.”
