Humid conditions and temperatures exceeding 100 degrees are expected to bring dangerous heat to Kansas this week.
The forecasted conditions have prompted the National Weather Service to issue a heat advisory for Monday and an extreme heat watch Tuesday for the Wichita area.
From 1 to 9 p.m. on Monday, a heat advisory for Kansas counties east of Barton County, including Sedgwick County, will be in effect. The heat index in Wichita is anticipated to hit 104 degrees, according to Wichita’s National Weather Service office.
On Tuesday, an extreme heat watch for Wichita and much of south-central and southeast Kansas will last from noon until 9 p.m., with slightly higher temps in Wichita expected to push 106 degrees, the weather service said…
