WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center announced on Monday that it was awarded money for a study to determine the best options for future construction.
The funding is part of a $4.8 billion nationwide investment by the Department of Veterans Affairs to modernize, repair and improve healthcare facilities. The department has been awarding funds to dozens of projects throughout fiscal year 2026.
In addition to the site expansion study, the Dole VA was given enough money in the third quarter to prepare its facility for a new PET/CT scanner because the current machine is near the end of its useful life. This scanner is used to detect cancer, evaluate heart disease and diagnose brain disorders, to name a few uses.
