Weather Alert – Dangerous heat continues today

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Today is another Storm Team 12 Weather Alert Day for dangerous heat across the state. While most of us see a heat index between 100 and 105 degrees this afternoon, parts of south central and southeast Kansas will have feels like temperatures around 110 degrees.

A cold front will move across the area later today bringing some heat relief to the state on Wednesday and Thursday. Expect highs in the near normal lower 90s with feels like temps a few degrees higher. Scattered storms are possible during the nights, especially along and north of I-70, but both heavy rain and severe weather are unlikely.

The heat dome returns on Friday, and highs are expected to climb into triple digits (again) on Saturday and Sunday. While the humidity will not be oppressive, it will be high enough to take feels like temperatures to 105 degrees, if not higher…
