WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Wichita Fire Department brought in a new fire truck on Wednesday, using a decades-old tradition to park it in the station.
Firefighters and community members physically pushed the fire truck into Fire Station 17, near Maple Street and Maize Road.
Capt. Mark Misek said this harkens back to a time when crews would have to push horse-drawn firefighting equipment into a garage because it could not be backed in.
But he said it is also a way to thank the community, since taxpayer dollars made it possible to buy the new equipment…
