Layoffs coming as financially troubled Kansas hospital tries to ‘stabilize’

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A financially troubled Kansas hospital is preparing for a “significant workforce reduction” as part of a sweeping operational overhaul, county officials said Thursday.

Pratt County officials said the layoffs at Pratt Regional Medical Center are necessary to stabilize the facility.

“While painful, these steps by PRMC are part of a broader effort to reduce ongoing losses, stabilize operations, and protect the continued availability of local healthcare,” the county said in a news release. “Failing to act would place the hospital, its remaining workforce, and the community’s access to care at even greater risk.”
