Preliminary hearing for Kansas killing on a city bus

SEDGWICK COUNTY—A man charged in a deadly shooting on a City of Wichita bus will be back in court Friday.

Travis L. Finney, 34, is scheduled to attend a preliminary hearing before Judge Kathleen Watson, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s office. The judge could determine whether the case moves forward or Finney could enter a plea.

In October, Finney was charged with first degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon and probation violation in the death of 54-year-old Reginald Griffith, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s office.

Just after 3:30 p.m. October 16, police responded to a report of a shooting at South Meridian and West Burton in Wichita. When officers arrived, they found a 54-year-old Reginald Griffith suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Sedgwick County EMS pronounced him deceased on scene…
