Fatal second collision kills 70-year-old Wichita man near Sterling

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A late-night collision in central Kansas turned fatal early Sunday morning when a 70-year-old Wichita man survived an initial two-vehicle crash, only to be struck and killed by a third vehicle moments later.

It began shortly before 12:30 a.m. on K-14 Highway, roughly 3 miles north of Sterling, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Troopers reported that Willie Sanders, 70, of Wichita, was driving an Acura south on the highway when he turned directly into the path of a northbound Honda Pilot. The impact sent Sanders’ Acura onto the southbound shoulder, while the Honda Pilot came to a rest in the west ditch.
